We work hard to maintain an excellent staff of doctors, receptionists and technicians. Our doctors regularly attend continuing education to keep up on the latest advances in veterinary medicine and surgery as well as learning about newer treatments and diagnostics.
Earnest Jacques, DVM & Abby

Dr Jacques is a 1976 graduate of Colorado State University, graduating in the top 10 percent of his class. He was a member of Phi Zeta which is only open to the students exhibiting excellence in scholastic apptitude. He spent 3 years in the Army, stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as the Course Director of the Army's veterinary technician course. At the end of his duty, he started Howard County Animal Hospital in Ellicott City, MD. The hospital grew as an accredited American Animal Hospital Assoc. member hospital which is known for providing standardized excellent quality of medicine and surgery. During the 22 years as owner and hospital director, Dr Jacques attended advanced courses in medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, ultasound, cardiology and a number of other disciplines. He attended an average of 40-50 hours of continuing education per year, which is above the average needed for maintaining licensure.
Dr Jacques acquired Donnelly Veterinary Hospital in April of 2005. The hospital has been continually upgraded to improve the ability to provide more services and better quality of care to our patients.
Dr Jacques has a special interest in all kinds of surgery and is providing advanced orthopedic procedures such as bone plating of fractures and TPLO surgery for ruptured cruciates.
Hobbies: flying, fishing, and hunting.
Dr Jacques and (wife) Bonnie have 2 grown children, Peter and Amy.
Pets include an Old English Mastiff and a Quarter Horse Mare.
